Are CableMod cables universal?
CableMod is also offering a selection of SATA cables with the same solid colors available. Since these cables are universal, you’ll be able to move them from one custom rig to another without worrying about the differences between power supplies.
What CableMod cables do I need?
The answer depends on what specific cables you will have visible, but in general you’ll need:
- 24 pin motherboard cable.
- 8 pin “EPS” cable (provides additional power to CPU)
- 6 or 8 pin PCI-e cable, possibly 2, if your GPU uses that kind of connector.
- SATA cable for 2.5″ SSDs, HDDs, or to power some LEDs.
Are all Corsair PCIe cables the same?
Disclaimer: The only difference between Type 3 and Type 4 cables is the pinout of the 24-pin ATX cable; all other cables (SATA, PCIe, etc) are the same.

How long do CableMod custom cables take?
Orders for stock items usually ship within 1-2 weeks. Configurator orders can take 2-3 weeks before shipping.
Should PSU fan be up or down?
It is recommended to mount the power supply with its ventilation top cover facing DOWNWARD. The fan in the power supply will take in the warm air inside the computer case, and the power supply will exhaust the air through the back.
Are cable extensions safe PC?
Yes, extension cables are safe. As long as the extension cable is from a good company like CableMod or BitFenix, it is completely safe to use extension cables for your PSU. You must also ensure that the extension cable isn’t too long.

Do PC extension cables affect performance?
While a typical extension cord has a practical effect of providing longer reach, a PSU cable extension is mostly about improving or otherwise changing the look of your computer. As you will see when we get into things below, the cables are designed not to have any adverse effect on performance.

Are CableMod cables flexible?
Is EPS cable same as PCIe?
They are completely different. The EPS connector is meant to supply power to a motherboard cpu socket while the PCI express connector is meant to supply power to a GPU.
How many fans should a gaming PC have?
A gaming PC will need at least three case fans to properly regulate heat and keep the components cool. At the minimum, two case fans are needed for optimal cooling, and ideally three. An exhaust fan should be placed on the back panel, while an intake fan should be placed on the front panel.
